'DAATO' stands for 'DAta Analysis TOols' and is an Excel 365 software which assists in analysing time series of data sets. It is meant to work with coastal data (wind, water levels, tides, wave heights, wave periods). It works with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) macros in the background and runs on all Windows systems where Microsoft Excel is installed. It will not run on Macbooks nor on tablets or smart phones due to the different Microsoft apps installed on these machines. Macros have to be accepted when opening the file.
The Excel file is built in a way that it can be extended and/or amended easily. Details about the tool can be found in the introduction sheet of the tool and the various help files it contains.

DAATO provides tools for:
- analysis of water levels, waves, wind, and current inputs
- combination of data sets (e.g. subtraction of tidal variations from water level)
- trend analysis and correction of data
- gap analysis of data
- statistical analysis of data
- correlation analysis (e.g. wave heights and wave periods)
- Peak-over-threshold (PoT) analysis
- extreme value statistics and interpolation/extrapolation of return periods
- etc.
A sample data set (1-year data of wind, water level, tides, and waves) set is pre-loaded into DAATO to show the required format of the data (as Excel files).
